HBO’s AGM will be held this Saturday, April 2nd at Ruthven Park National Historic Site. Ruthven is located on Highway 54 about 2 km north of Cayuga.

Registration goes between 9:00 and 9:30. This is followed by a short business meeting before our two guest speakers:

Christine Madliger will talk about the links between habitat quality, stress, physiology and reproductive succes in Tree Swallows. Christine, who was the Species at Risk Co-ordinator at Ruthven for several years, did her field research at Ruthven Park and Taquanyah. She is currently working on a Master’s at the University of Windsor.

Christie Macdonald’s talk will look at understanding migratory connectivity and movement behaviour of Snow Bunting populations. Christie, also a Master’s candidate at Windsor, co-ordinates the Snow Bunting Project facilitating the banding of buntings in southern Ontario (and, hopefully in the future, the rest of Canada).

The morning is punctuated with a couple of coffee breaks, a bucket raffle, and a lot of birding interaction.
