After the first round I was ready to write the day off but things picked up a little after the sun came up and heated the air. After that it was steady catching….but not in any quantities. The variety of birds that were around was down as well – only 37 species encountered throughout the day.

Fern Hill School:
After yesterday’s flurry of activity, today was a quiet day with fewer birds handled. The Young Ornithologists arrived before school started, eager to see what was in the bird bags and ready to learn. The weather quickly warmed up and the bird activity around the net lanes slowly came to a halt.
